GOLF
RESORT
Jebel
Ali Hotel boasts a full 9-hole par 36 golf course,
designed by renowned golf course architect Peter
Harradine and situated within the idyllic grounds
of the Jebel Ali Hotel & Golf Resort. The Club
House, based at Club Joumana, overlooks the marina
and the first tee. Every aspect of the game can
be practiced at The Old Stables driving range.
The
resort course is both beautifully stunning and a
fair and exciting challenge to any level of player.
It is also the host of the annual Jebel Ali Golf
Resort & Spa Challenge match, the curtain raiser
for the European Tour Dubai Desert Classic. The
fifth annual Challenge Match will take place on
Tuesday, 4th March 2003. Tiger Woods, the golfing
world's prodigy, will, for the 2nd time in three
years, again be amongst the players for the 2003
Jebel Ali Challenge Match and Dubai Desert Classic.
Woods was one of the star golfers hosted during
the 2001 Classic in 5-star resort luxury and comfort
at the Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa.
Please
note that due to the Challenge Match the Resort
Course will be closed for guest play from Sunday,
2nd March till Tuesday, 4th March 2003 inclusive.
Hotel
guests of the Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa are
entitled to watch the match on the Resort Course
to witness the amazing skills and talents of six
of the world's greatest players.
THE RESORT COURSE
The
resort course is both scenically stunning and a
fair and exciting challenge to any level of player.
Each hole is unique, with exotic trees and shrubs,
wooden gazebos, panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf,
and the company of peacocks, guinea fowl and partridges
which freely roam the course.
The
availability of four tees creates a different aspect
and playability to each hole and the opportunity
to play and 18-hole round. Arranged on different
elevations, the course features a large central
saltwater that comes into play on five holes. The
Bermuda grass greens and fairways are well manicured
to the championship standard the hotel has maintained.
GOLF ACADEMY INSTRUCTION
The
Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa exceptional practice
facilities and quality instruction provide the prefect
learning environment for the new, intermediate and
advanced players.
Video lessons are available at our own indoor, air-conditioned
Swing Analysis Room. Enabling the instructors to
compare and analyze your swing with the top professionals
of the world.
All aspects of tuition are covered by our PGA professionals,
who have designed specific programs to cover every
area. Individual, group and clinic instruction is
available 7 days a week.
PGA INSTRUCTORS
Our
instructors are all experienced Class 'A' professionals
who take pride in passing on their knowledge of
the game and seeing their pupils improve their standard
of play and enjoyment of the game.
Lessons
are available in both English and German.
PRACTICE FACILITIES
Our
academy offers the following facilities:
Floodlit driving range with target greens, bunkers,
yardage markers and Bermuda grass.
Floodlit private range for individual and clinic
instruction.
Floodlit 27 hole putting green, pitching, chipping
and bunker green.
INSTRUCTIONAL
PROGRAMS
Lessons
are available individually, maybe shared or in group
clinic form and cover any or all aspects of the
game. The contents of each lesson are specifically
tailored to the individual needs of the player.

Golf
clubs, range balls and the use of video instruction
is included in all lesson fees.
STANDARDS OF PLAY
The
Resort Course is available to players of the following
standard:
1.
Holder of an official Handicap Certificate.
2. Holder of a playing certificate or a very experienced
non-handicap player. A player in this category should
be a regular player who has a thorough knowledge
and understanding of the game, rules and etiquette
and must play at a speed that ensures enjoyment
for all other course players.
3. Beginners and non-golfers are not permitted to
play on the resort course but are welcome to use
the practice facilities and to take golf lessons.
Dress
Appropriate
golf attire is required for all players at all times.
Spike-less or soft spike shoes must be worn.
Tee
Time Groups
Players
will be made up of tee time groups of three or four
during busy periods.
Speed
of Play
The
maximum time to play 9 holes is two hours and ten
minutes; however, fast players should be allowed
to play through at all times. If a match fails to
keep its place on the course and loses one clear
hole on the players in front it must allow the following
match to play through.
Ride
or Walk
Players
may ride or walk the course. Electric carts and
pull trolleys are available for hire. Golf carts
are only able to golfers playing on the course and
not to spectators. Electric carts should be driven
on paths, around greens and tees, fairways and fairway
rough areas only. Carts should be driven over the
red and white restriction lines surrounding the
greens, or on any of the waste and sand areas. A
maximum of 2 carts may be hired for a three or four
ball game and one cart for a single or two-ball
game. Cart fees are charged per person per seat.
Clubs
Every
golfer must have their own set of clubs.
Range
Balls
Range
balls should not be used on the course.
Spectators
Non-players
are not permitted to walk the course, except without
the prior approval of the Director of Golf or golf
professionals.
Marshal
Golfers
must comply with the Course marshal's instructions
at all times.
Tee
off Times
Tee
times are available 7 days a week and are at 10-minute
intervals.
Tee
times from 1st May to 30th September (summer) commerce
at 6:30 am.
Tee
times from 1st October to 30th April (winter) commence
at 7:00am.
When requesting a tee time it is important to take
into consideration that darkness falls at approximately
7:00pm in summer time and 5:15pm in winter.
Tee
Time Cancellations
On
arrival at the hotel, guests not wishing to take
tee times that they have already reserved are requested
to call and cancel their booking s with the Golf
Reception Desk on extension 8023 or 8058. The hotel
reserves the right to charge guests for not showing
for tee times or on the day cancellations.

With
in the Old Stables building at the driving range,
is a secure room by where guests of the hotel are
able to store their clubs during their stay.

Lodge
Located
midway through the Resort Course, you shall find
the Oasis lodge where golfers can stop and refresh
themselves with beverages and snacks.
